Ingredients
- Steak: Skirt steak or flank steak are great choices for air fry steak strips because they have a rich, beefy flavor. Slice the steak thin and against the grain for the most tenderness and great flavor.
- Bell Peppers: We like to use a combination of green and red bell peppers for plenty of texture and crunch.
- Yellow Onion: These add a little bit of sweetness to all of the savory flavors in the air fryer fajita veggies.
- Fajita Seasoning: This spice blend usually includes cumin, chili powder, paprika, and oregano for tons of flavor.
- Pepper in Adobo Sauce: This is one of the key ingredients to add smoky depth to the fajitas. They have a little heat but aren't overly spicy.
- Tortillas: You can use warm flour tortillas or corn tortillas if you need a gluten free option.
- Toppings: We love using fresh sliced lime, cilantro, sour cream, and cheese. You can use any of your favorite toppings.

How to Make Steak Fajitas in the Air Fryer
Start by slicing the bell peppers and onions into thin, even strips. Slice the skirt steak into ¼-inch strips, too.

- Step 1: Season and Coat the Vegetables. Place your sliced bell peppers and onions in a medium bowl, then add 1 tablespoon olive oil and 1 teaspoon salt. Use your hands to toss everything together, making sure each piece is well-coated with oil. This helps them caramelize beautifully in the air fryer.

- Step 2: Cook the Vegetables. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F for 3 minutes. Add the seasoned vegetables to the basket in an even layer and cook for 12 minutes. Shake the basket halfway through at the 6-minute mark to ensure even cooking and caramelization.

- Step 3: Prepare the steak. While the vegetables are cooking, toss your sliced steak with fajita seasoning, ½ teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon olive oil, and the chopped pepper in adobo sauce until evenly coated.

- Step 4: Cook the Steak. When the vegetables are done, add the seasoned steak on top and continue cooking for 10 more minutes at 350°F, shaking the basket halfway through.

- Step 5: Warm Tortillas and Serve. During the last few minutes of cooking, warm your tortillas either in the microwave (wrapped in a damp paper towel for 30 seconds), in a dry skillet, or directly over a gas flame for a slight char. Transfer your sizzling fajita mixture to a serving plate and immediately serve with warm tortillas, fresh lime wedges, cilantro, sour cream, and any additional toppings you love.
Hint: Slice Evenly
Make sure your beef and vegetables are all sliced about the same size. This way they will all cook in the same amount of time.

Expert Tips
- When Feeding a Crowd: Work in batches so the air fryer doesn’t get overcrowded. You should easily be able to shake the ingredients during cooking time so everything cooks evenly.
- Slice Against the Grain: When cutting your skirt steak or flank steak, slice against the grain (perpendicular to the muscle fibers). This will help make the bites tender instead of chewy.
- Storing: Store the steak and veggie mixture separate from the toppings and tortillas. Leftovers will keep in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat the dish in the microwave on medium heat for 30-60 second intervals or in a skillet on the stove until it is heated through.
- Boost the Flavor: You can marinate the top sirloin strips in the fajita seasoning, salt, and olive oil for at least 30 minutes before cooking. This allows the flavors to penetrate the meat, making it more flavorful.
