- Versatile: Chicken crescent roll ups can be served as an appetizer on their own or part of a full meal and you can customize the cheese and spices to your preferences.
- Great for Feeding a Crowd: You can easily double this recipe if you’re feeding a lot of people or want leftovers. They’re a hit!

Ingredients
- Crescent Roll Dough: We used two 8-ounce cans of Pillsbury pre-made crescent roll dough, but you could use any brand you like.
- Bacon: Salty, crispy bacon adds a lot of flavor and texture to these little chicken pillows. Use any favorite brand or flavor, including turkey bacon if you want.
- Cream Cheese and Sour Cream: Cream cheese and sour cream add richness and creaminess. You can use a flavored cream cheese like onion and chive for added flavor if you prefer.
- Cream of Chicken Condensed Soup: The can of creamy soup adds a ton of flavor. You could also use cream of celery or cream of mushroom soup.
- Ranch Seasoning: You'll need one packet of ranch seasoning. If you wanted to make your own mix, you could include spices like parsley, seasoned salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and thyme.
- Cheddar Cheese: We love sharp cheddar in this chicken pockets recipe but mild cheddar, Parmesan, gruyere, and mozzarella would all work too.
- Shredded Chicken: Leftover rotisserie chicken is perfect for these little chicken puffs. You can also use shredded chicken cooked from breasts or thighs.
- Green Onions: For a bit of crunch, freshness, and color in the chicken pillows.
- Butter and Seasonings: For brushing over the crescent rolls before you bake them. We used Italian seasoning and garlic powder for this recipe. You could also use a little bit of paprika or even a sprinkle of red chili flake for more heat.

Variations
- Mix-Ins: You can add a lot of other ingredients to these chicken and crescent rolls to switch up the flavor! Some of our favorites are sauteed onions, mushrooms, bell peppers, and freshly chopped herbs.
- Swap the Chicken: Try the crescent rolls with leftover shredded pork or cubed ham instead.
- Buffalo Sauce: Buffalo chicken crescent rolls are a delicious variation! You can use Frank’s RedHot, another brand, or a homemade cayenne hot sauce. Add crumbled blue cheese for more flavor.
- Green Chile or Jalapeno: Add mild green chiles for flavor or chopped jalapenos for a bit of spice. I prefer fresh jalapenos but pickled will work too.
How to Make Chicken Crescent Rolls
These are so easy to make and the flavors are irresistible!

- Step 1: Cook the Bacon. You'll want to cook the bacon in a pan over medium-high heat. If you have a grease splatter screen, that can help avoid making a mess. After it's done, chop the bacon and set it aside.

- Step 2: Mix the Chicken Filling. Place the shredded chicken, cheddar cheese, ranch seasoning, sour cream, chicken soup, cream cheese, and bacon in a large bowl. Mix everything until it's well combined.

- Step 3: Fill the Dough. Roll out the dough and separate. Add a large scoop of the chicken filling to each triangle, then roll up from the large side to the point. Place these on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with the melted butter mixed with garlic powder and Italian seasoning..

- Step 5: Bake. Bake for 14-18 minutes or until they are golden brown.

- Step 5: Brush on butter: In a small bowl, melt butter. Then, mix in Italian seasoning and onion powder. Mix and brush onto crescent rolls.
Hint: Seasoning Options
These chicken pastry puffs are great with so many different flavors. Try them with buffalo sauce, BBQ sauce, onion powder, and herbs like chives, thyme, parsley, and basil. Customize them however you like!

Expert Tips
- The Perfect Bake: You'll know these are done with the tops are golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
- Stuffing the Rolls: Gently tuck the chicken inside the crescent dough so that each one is a little sealed puff package. If any of the chicken or cheese is on the outside, it can burn.
- Make, Freeze & Bake Later: Flash-freeze the rolls on a parchment-lined baking tray and then transfer them to a container or bag and store for up to three months. Cook them straight from frozen and extend the cooking time slightly or thaw them out on your baking tray and then bake as directed.
Storage Directions
- Storing: Leftover chicken rolls keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. You can freeze them for up to 3 months.
- Reheating: Reheat the rolls on a baking dish in the oven at 325°F until heated through or in the microwave on medium heat for 30-60 second intervals.
- Make Ahead: You can make these ahead of time and keep them in the refrigerator for up to 8 hours before baking.

Chicken Crescent Rolls
Ingredients
- 2 (8 ounce) Pillsbury crescent roll dough
- 4 strips bacon chopped
- 8 ounces cream cheese softened
- 10.5 ounces cream of chicken condensed soup
- ¾ cup sour cream
- 1 ounce packet ranch seasoning
- ¾ cup cheddar cheese grated
- 2 cups shredded chicken I used a rotisserie chicken
- 3 green onions sliced
- 3 tablespoons butter melted
- ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375℉ and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Over medium-high heat, cook bacon until done. Then chop and set aside.
- Add bacon, cream cheese, chicken soup, sour cream, ranch seasoning, cheddar cheese, shredded chicken, and green onions in a large bowl. Mix until well combined.
- Roll out the crescent roll and separate it into individual triangles.
- Add a large scoop of chicken filling and roll up from the large side to the point. Then, place on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 14-18 minutes or until golden brown.
Notes
- Work with cold crescent dough so that it's not too sticky. Roll the triangles carefully, ensuring that all of the filling is inside and won't burn.
- Get creative with your mix-ins! You can add diced bell peppers, jalapenos, or sauteed mushrooms for more flavor and texture.
- Don't overfill them. Use 1-2 tablespoons per crescent roll so it doesn't spill out during baking.
- Line your baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat for easy cleanup and to prevent the rolls from sticking.
- These are best served fresh and hot out of the oven. They also reheat beautifully in a 325°F oven or air fryer for a crisp texture.
