Why You’ll Love This Hawaiian Roll Sliders Recipe
- Tasty: These sliders have layers of flavors from the ham, the cheese, the buns, and the butter mixture.
- Fun to eat: Handheld food is always more fun than food you need to eat with a fork and knife.
- Crowd pleaser: Savory, chewy, and cheesy, no one will be able to resist these sliders.
Ingredients
- Hawaiian Rolls: These sweet and soft rolls pair perfectly with the savory flavors of these sliders. Make sure to keep them together; do not detach them. Sweet brioche buns would make a good alternative to the Hawaiian rolls.
- Deli ham: We like to use deli ham, thinly sliced, as the protein in these sliders.
- Swiss cheese: Swiss cheese adds cheesy goodness to this slider recipe, though you can also use cheddar if you wish.
- Flavored Butter: A combination of Dijon mustard, honey, Worcestershire sauce, dried parsley, onion powder, garlic powder, and black pepper is mixed with melted butter and brushed onto the tops of the buns.
See the recipe card below for exact ingredient amounts, nutritional information, and detailed instructions.
Variations
- Mix in some spice: Stir cayenne pepper or red chili flakes into the seasoned butter mixture for a touch of heat.
- Add a layer of flavor: Coat the inside of the rolls with a creamy dressing like ranch or Caesar before layering the ham and cheese.
- Swap the meat: Try your sliders with chicken or turkey instead!
How to Make Ham and Cheese Sliders
Preheat the oven and get a baking dish ready to make these Hawaiian sliders.
Step 1: Slice the rolls. Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half without separating them. Remove the top half and set it aside.
Step 2: Prepare the rolls. Place the bottom half of the rolls on the baking pan and layer with half of the ham, half the cheese, and then the remaining ham and remaining cheese. Cover with the top half of the rolls.
Step 3: Prepare the butter mixture. Melt the butter and then mix in the mustard, honey, Worcestershire sauce, parsley, onion powder, garlic powder, and black pepper.
Step 4: Brush the tops of the sliders. Using a pastry or basting brush, brush the tops of the rolls with the melted butter mixture.
Step 5: Start baking. Cover the rolls with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes.
Step 6: Finish baking. Remove the foil and bake the ham and cheese Hawaiian sliders until the tops turn golden brown.
Hint: Generously Brush on the Butter Mixture
Brush the tops of the Hawaiian rolls liberally so they get nicely browned and develop a deep flavor.

These easy Hawaiian roll sliders go well with almost anything for meals or snack! We love to serve them up with these favorite sides!
- Serve the sliders with these Air Fryer Tater Tots, this Smoked Queso Dip, Rotel Dip and these Loaded Fries for the ultimate game day party.
- Make them for dinner with this Cucumber Tomato Salad and these Oven Roasted Potatoes on the side, and then finish up with these Raspberry Lemon Cupcakes for dessert.
Expert Tips
- Use thinly sliced ham: Make sure to slice the deli ham very thin so you can create several layers. If the ham is too thick, it will be harder to work with.
- Let the sliders rest: Give the sliders a few minutes after you remove them from the oven so the cheese can set, which will make them easier to serve.
- Storage: Store leftovers separately so the buns don’t get soggy during storage. If you end up with assembled sliders left over, place them in an airtight container, and store them in the fridge for 2-3 days. To reheat, place under the broiler or in a toaster oven to crisp up again.
