Why You'll Love This Recipe

  • Quick and Easy: With just a few simple ingredients and minimal prep, this Oreo Cool Whip dessert comes together in minutes.
  • Crowd-Pleasing Flavor: The creamy texture and crushed Oreo cookies make it irresistible for both kids and adults.
  • Make-Ahead Friendly: You can prep this Oreo fluff dessert in advance and chill it until you're ready to serve, making it perfect for parties or busy days.
  • Budget-Friendly: Made with pantry staples and store-bought whipped topping, this dessert costs very little to make.

Ingredients

  • Cream Cheese: Use full-fat cream cheese for the richest flavor and creamiest texture. Be sure it's softened to room temperature, so it blends smoothly without lumps.
  • Vanilla Extract: Adds depth and sweetness to balance the richness. Use pure vanilla extract if possible for the best flavor.
  • Cheesecake Pudding and Milk: The pudding and milk gives the Oreo cheesecake fluff a light, creamy consistency without being overly sweet.
  • Whipped Topping: Store-bought whipped topping like Cool Whip is the quickest option. Thaw it in the fridge before folding it into the mixture.
  • Oreo Cookies: Classic Oreos work best here. Crush them in a zip-top bag with a rolling pin for easy cleanup and perfect crumb texture.
  • Marshmallows and Chocolate Chips: I like to use mini semi sweet chocolate chips. Feel free to mix it up with dark or milk chocolate chips.

See the recipe card below for exact ingredient amounts, nutritional information, and detailed instructions.

Variations

  • Gluten-Free Version: Use gluten-free Oreos to make this a gluten-free dessert. Just be sure to double-check all other ingredients for hidden gluten.
  • Chocolate Chip: Add chocolate syrup to the cookies and cream fluff for a chocolatey twist. The chips add extra texture and flavor.
  • Peanut Butter: Stir in a few spoonfuls of peanut butter into the fluff mixture for a creamy, nutty taste in every bite. You can also top with crushed peanuts for added crunch.
  • Mint-Flavored Oreo Fluff: Use Mint Oreos in place of regular Oreos to create a fresh, minty version of the classic fluff.

How to Make Oreo Fluff

Making this easy cookies and cream fluff is quick and simple! Just a few steps and you'll have a delicious, creamy dessert ready to chill and enjoy.

Oreo cookies that have been crushed in a zip loc bag.
  1. Step 1: Crush the Oreos. Start by placing the Oreos in a large freezer bag. Use a rolling pin to crush them until they're in small, coarse pieces. Set aside some of the crushed Oreos to use for garnish later.
Cream cheese and vanilla extract that has been whisked together.
  1. Step 2: Prepare the Creamy Base. Whisk together the softened cream cheese and vanilla extract in a large bowl. Make sure it's smooth, with no lumps remaining to create a creamy base for the fluff.

  1. Step 3: Whisk in Pudding and Milk. Add the cheesecake pudding and milk to the cream cheese. Whisk until well combined and thickened.

  1. Step 4: Fold in the Whipped Topping. Add in the whipped topping and gently fold it into the cream cheese mixture. This helps keep the fluff light and airy.

  1. Step 5: Add the Crushed Oreos. Fold in most of the crushed Oreos, marshmallows, and chocolate chips, leaving some Oreos to sprinkle on top later. Give it one last gentle mix to combine everything, then cover and refrigerate for at least one hour or overnight.

  1. Step 6: Chill and Serve! Place in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour. Sprinkle the leftover crushed Oreos on top before serving and enjoy!

Hint: Crush Oreos Well

Make sure the Oreos are crushed into small pieces for an even texture throughout the fluff.

Expert Tips

  • Softened Cream Cheese: The cream cheese should be softened to room temperature before mixing to avoid lumps in your fluff. This will help achieve a smooth and creamy consistency.
  • Use a Rolling Pin for Oreos: When crushing the Oreos, place them in a sturdy zip-top bag and use a rolling pin to crush them. This will give you even-sized pieces without making a mess.
  • Don't Overmix: Once you fold the whipped topping and Oreos into the cream cheese mixture, be gentle. Overmixing can deflate the fluff and make it less airy.
  • Chill for Longer: For the best flavor and texture, let the fluff dessert chill for a few hours or overnight.

Storage Directions

  • Storing: Leftover Oreo fluff salad can be kept in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. The fluff stays fresh and creamy as long as it's properly sealed.
  • Make Ahead: This recipe is perfect for making ahead. Prepare the Oreo dessert a day or two before serving and let it chill in the refrigerator to allow the flavors to meld. The longer it sits, the better it tastes!

  • Serve it at your next summer party alongside fruit pizza cookies, tangy key lime pie, or sugar cookie cups.
  • It's the perfect dessert after a simple family meal to pair with sloppy joe grilled cheese or taco joes.

Recipe FAQs

Can I use different cookies for this recipe?

Absolutely! While Oreos are the classic choice, you can experiment with other cookies like chocolate chip, peanut butter, or gluten-free options if desired.

How long will Oreo fluff last in the fridge?

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Just make sure to stir before serving, as it may firm up slightly after chilling.

Can I freeze Oreo fluff?

It's not recommended to freeze it, as the texture may change once thawed, especially with the whipped topping and cream cheese.

Can I use low-fat or fat-free ingredients?

You can substitute low-fat cream cheese or whipped topping, but the dessert may not be as rich and creamy as the full-fat versions.
