Ingredients

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp butter (softened)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable shortening
  • ½ cup half & half
  • ¾ cup buttermilk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Add all-purpose flour, salt, and baking soda to a medium bowl. Stir until well combined.
  • Lightly beat the egg in a large bowl. Then, add granulated sugar, butter, and shortening. Using an electric mixer, beat until completely smooth. Add half & half, buttermilk, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  • Add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and gently fold them together. (Do Not Over Mix) It is ok to have some lumps.
  • Let the batter rest for 20 minutes.
  • Preheat your waffle iron and spray with a non-stick cooking spray. Add ½ cup of batter and cook for 3-4 or until golden brown.
  • Serve with your favorite toppings, and enjoy!

Notes

  • For the fluffiest waffles. Store the waffle batter in the refrigerator over night.
